I'll go first and list my top 5 slash and my top 5 non-slash favorite stories.

Top 5 Slash stories:

These are not in order.  On any given day, the order might change.

1.     That Note at the Bottom (Apartment 42B/Oh, Darling!):
A threesome in 1964 Bahamas between J/P/G.  They're writing if "If I Fell."  George is the hottest!  George and John tell the story from the afterlife looking down at Paul.  Wow!

2.     A Perfect Time (Gingersling or Gingers4)
George is the hero;  John is funny.   I've only had access to 2 chapters although it was completed and undergoing a re-edit before disappearing from the internet.  2 entries on lennon_harrison in spring 2006.  People who had read a complete earlier draft loved it.

3.    The Vampire John Lennon (Melody Clark/jp_archive)
Vampires and Beatles, what more needs to be said.

4.    Helter Skelter (Abbeyrd 62561/oh, darling!):
Deeply disturbing story but so well done.  Paul gets busted in '68 for unwittingly carrying John's heroin into NY and barely survives a horrific few weeks in a NY jail. Major implications for his relationship with John.

5.    Black Book (taxie/oh, darling!)
Thought I'd wandered into one of Anne Rice's pornographic novels with the Beatles as the stars (the Sleeping Beauty series, that is, not vampires or witches)

Top 5 Non-Slash stories:

1.    Tug of War (Ms. Moonlight/Indica's Attic/  http://indicasattic.homestead.com/TugofWar.html   ):
Paul is the time traveler desperately trying to save John.  But what if that requires giving up Linda and the kids and everything he loves about his own life? (ongoing and a recent update)

2,    The Price of Eternity (anyathe/Beatlescribes/Yahoo groups)
Vampires and Beatles in Revolutionary France and George is the hero.   Actually there is a little implied slashiness but the major love interests for all of them are hetero.

3.     Tell Me What You See (abbeyrd 62561/Fabfourfanfic/Yahoo Groups):
George is having disturbing prophetic dreams of Paul dying in a car crash.  An incredibly exciting supernatural plot

4.      Song of India  (Good Day Sunshyne   /   http://www.angelfire.com/ny4/Starlitcafe/SIS.html )  :
George has lots and lots and lots of hetero sex in India.  "Something" really wasn't about Pattie.

5.     Change My World (Sarah Henley of St. John's Wood.  The link is bad so I only know how to get it through Fabfourfanfic/  Yahoo groups.  The author is 60sfreak on LJ and could perhaps provide a link to an open source)
Paul really did die in a car crash.  Really cool alternative history with neat supernatural elements.

Great unfinished stories:

In addition to "That Note at the Bottom," "A Perfect Time" and "Tug of War" (listed above),

Our Generation by Faolan    Mary Sue time traveler walks out on the Beatles when they act like shits. Reconnects with older George in her own time.  Meets Dhani in England.  Why did you stop?
http://faolan.atspace.com/ourgeneration/chapters.html

If They Only Knew by Strawberry Walrus.  Includes Bob Dylan, Beatles in Liverpool, Hamburg and London.  George is the hero.  Heroine even goes to Greenwich Village in early 60s.  The heroine is not a Mary Sue and she is torn between Paul and an unrecognized passion for like-a-brother-to-me George:
http://www.geocities.com/ifthey_onlyknew/

Had it Been Another Day by Cinder Whittier  Don't know why I love this so much. Maybe a neat supernatural element added to the Mary Sue story.
http://www.angelfire.com/mt/strawberry/anotherdayintro.html

A group story that's begging to be finished:  Beatles Horror Story:  started on Beatlescribes and moved to Keep-Britain-Tidy (both Yahoo groups).  Beatles fight zombies (referred to by John as "chompy weirdos").  George, Ringo, and John agree that in the event of starvation, Paul is the one to eat.  Funny and weird.

Here's the link:

http://darling.revolution-1.org/stories/thatnote1.html

It's a sequel to "It's Just a Dream, I Promise." (Also at the Oh, Darling! site.) That story makes me a little squeamish. (Sorry, apartment 42B, I got the sense all the characters and involved and you were a little squeamish, too, or was I projecting?)

Dhani and James are a couple, which is fine with me, but then, there's a semi-incestuous sexual encounter between Dhani and Paul that causes mucho trouble. And it stirs up various memories, which leads to the story I recommended.

Oh there was one I read once that was never finished where they are all slipping through time, and there are all these alternate universes, like one where they didn't form the band at all and one where they went super into drugs and one where they got incredibly spiritual and broke up the band, etc. - have no idea the title or where I found it, but man that was a cool one! I even emailed the link on the story and it bounced back.

At this point I'd gnaw my own arm off for an update to "Tug of War."

Several months ago I posted a link to it at jhp in order to urge anyone who read it and liked it to ask the author for updates. A little while later, she actually did! I don't know if it was a coincidence or my plan actually worked. But that's my theory: if you give feedback you increase the chances of Indica's Attic being updated.

Sarah Henley posted on Beatlescribes to say that her story is available only on that group and Fabfourfanfic.

I'm not sure what to reply given that a lot of my favorites are posted on slash sites, but don't have sex scenes. Do they count as slash or non-slash?

btw, I love Tug of War. And Stand By Me--which I notice no one has mentioned yet.

If it's about a slashy relationship, then I'd count it as slash. If not, I wouldn't. I think Anyathe's story implied some sexual relationship among the guys, but it was not the focus of the plot or even the main romantic focus.

BTW, there are several amazing on-going stories that are currently being posted that I didn't list. I think in my mind I was looking at already finished or left unfinished for a while. I do really enjoy "Stand By Me" and some others I'm reading now. No slight was intended.

Indica's Attic also has another WIP, "Dear Friend" that she hasn't updated in ages, though it's wonderful.

That is a good story. It seems to be about the entire '66 US tour and they get through Memphis but then it does just stop. For anyone who wants the link: http://indicasattic.homestead.com/DearFriend.html

On my favorite unfinished stories, I forgot one I would dearly love to read more of: "All Things Eternal" by libra6484. Anyone know if there's any chance the story will ever be finished?

Paul's boxer, on Rooftop sessions. That is the first Beatles fanfiction I ever read and it made me fall in love with the Beatles fandom.

I haven't read that many slash fan fics, and I don't remember the titles of the ones I've read, so I'm not going to list those.

Here's my list of Non-Slash fave Beatle fan fics. They're not in any particular order.

1. Per chance to Meet
Back in 1964, Lena is a Beatle fan. Her favorite Beatle is Ringo, she writes a fan letter to him. Receives a phone call from Ringo himself, is invited to join them on the US tour. Ringo and John fall for Lena.

2. Baby It's You
Sequel to Per Chance to Meet

3. Into My Life (I think that's the title)
1965, a nursing student has to help John recover from a fall. She starts having feelings for John, but then discovers she also has feelings for Paul.

4. Like Dreamers Do
Bailey is best friends with the boys since they were kids. John,Paul and Bailey love triangle.

5. Walk Alone If You Choose.
All I know about this fan fic is that it's set in 1966. It's also a Paul, John and girl love triangle. I've been trying to find it like crazy. If somebody finds it please let me know. Thanks.

This is the link for the stories by Abbeyrd62561 on the Oh, Darling! website. The list is alphabetical and the link to Helter Skelter appears to be working fine.

The home page for Oh, Darling! is here:

In my opinion, it's the best collection of Beatles Slash anywhere, although it hasn't been updated since November 2005. Enjoy!
